Juan Caicedo ready to score goals for Revs fans taken at Gillette Stadium (Revolution)

FOXBOROUGH — He’s here, and he’s ready to put on a show for the fanaticos in The Fort.

New signing Juan Fernando Caicedo, here on loan for the 2019 season from Deportivo Independiente Medelin, said Friday he’s developing relationships with his new squadmates and is pretty much ready to take on Major League Soccer.

Caicedo signed with New England on Dec. 20 after scoring 89 goals for six different clubs.

And he’s ready to do the same for the Midnight Riders and the Rebellion.

“I think, in general, my part will be just to score goals,” he said through an interpreter outside the Revs’ locker room prior to Friday’s training session at Gillette Stadium. “I have all sorts of experience at all different levels, and I think I have a very strong mentality, and I just want to support the club in any way I can.”

Caicedo brings a serious amount of athleticism, as well as an aerial presence — he’s a rather tall individual, well over 6 feet — which should come in handy on crosses.

“I’m a player that likes to bring everything I have, and I love to score goals,” Caicedo said. “I think in terms of the fans, it’s incredibly important, especially coming from South America. In South America, we call the fans ‘The 12th man,’ so they have a lot of power, and I hope we can bring something for the fans, as well.”

One of the important things for a new player is to develop relationships with the other players. And when a team has several Spanish-speaking players in the attacking corps — Caicedo has a rather deep voice, his tone full of experience and mastery — it obviously makes things easier.

“Excellent, so far, to be honest,” Caicedo said when asked about his growing relationship with the attacking corps. “It’s excellent so far, and not just with Diego (Fagundez), guys like (Luis) Caicedo, (Cristian) Penilla, and especially Juan (Agudelo). It’s an excellent group with an excellent coach; (Brad Friedel) came to Medelin, so I felt very welcomed immediately.

“They were always in contact with me, so I had known about the team completely. I’m completely happy to be here.”
