- Something’s got to give, right? While the red-hot Bruins are looking to extend their win streak to six games, the odds aren’t in their favor against the Capitals — who have won 13 straight games against Boston.
- Boston’s last win against the Capitals came on March 29, 2014. In their last outing, the Bruins were shellacked by the Caps, dropping a 7-0 final in their season opener on October 3.
- No major lineup changes for the Bruins, who will roll with Jaroslav Halak for Thursday’s matchup. Given Boston’s recent history against Washington and Tuukka Rask’s struggles against the club (1-11-5, .883 save percentage), Bruce Cassidy said on Tuesday that the team would opt for Halak to get a new look against Washington.
- The Bruins made a major announcement on Thursday, with the team signing off on a partnership with the Boston Pride of the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL) to support and grow the game of women's hockey within Massachusetts. As part of this new partnership — the fourth between a NHL club and a NWHL team — a Bruins Academy Girls Learn to Play program will be formed, which will allow girls ages 4-10 to learn the basics of hockey in events led by Boston Pride players. Registration for the program opens on Jan. 21. To celebrate this new partnership, the entire Boston Pride team will attend Thursday’s game.
