Bedard's Weekend Briefing 11.30.18: Bruins edge Isles on Middleton night, Saints lose, C's try to keep it going

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I think I speak for all hacks in regards to the Marriott/Starwood data breach ... "Yeah, but do I still have my points?"

• Wasn't exactly a scintillating affair given the current offensive state of both teams, but that was a pretty fun little hockey game between the Bruins and Islanders.

• I almost look forward to games going to 3-on-3 and ... the shootout is a bonus.

• Remember when the NHL settled for ties? lololololol

• Tuukka was just terrific last night. It's good to see the old, dialed-in Rask back. Lets hope it stays. I like the guy who feels like he needs to play for his job every night. Probably why Jaro Halak was brought here.

• Very nice ceremony last night for Nifty ... but what a scheduling debacle for the Bruins doing it 90 minutes before puck drop. There were like 1,000 people there for the start of the ceremony.

• Welcome back, Ryan Donato. Sweet shootout move.

• Good game between the Saints and Cowboys last night. Some pretty rough officiating, however.

• That game kind of illustrated what I talked about on Felger & Mazz this week ... the Saints (Sean Payton and Drew Brees, in particular) are very good frontrunners but if you punch them in the mouth and can rattle their confidence, they're very mortal. Very much a finesse team.

• Coach Cory Bailey will have his look at the Vikings coming up. I'll have a column tomorrow on the underrated key in this game.

• Would be nice if Rex Burkhead could stay healthy this time around. He's the best all-around back on the team and could address the short-yardage issues. But we all kind of got excited about his return last year and ... nothing really happened. Had five touches in two postseason games

• Let's see if the Celtics can actually put together back-to-back 48-minute games tonight. Would be nice...

• Good luck to everyone in the MIAA Super Bowls starting tonight.
