Tom Brady struggled at times Sunday against the Jaguars. The recipe for a bounceback? Face off against one of the Patriots’ old defensive coordinators. Brady is 13-4 in his career (including the postseason) when he goes up against a defense helmed by one of New England’s ex-DC’s. And guess who will be on the opposite sideline this week?

That’s right — Matt Patricia. The Patriots’ former defensive coordinator, who is 0-2 to start his head coaching career with New England. Patricia will get his first chance to game-plan against Brady as an opponent this week when the Lions meet the Patriots. Speaking with WEEI on Monday morning, Brady offered high praise for Detroit and Patricia, despite their early-season struggles.

“This isn’t a high school football team,” Brady said. “These guys are extremely talented, they have a lot of great players, they have a great offense (and) they have a new defensive scheme. We better have the best week of preparation we can.”

But if history is any indication, Patricia is in for a long night. Brady has won 13 of the 17 games where he’s faced old DC’s, a group that includes Romeo Crennel (6-0 dating back to 2007), Eric Mangini (4-2) and Dean Pees (3-2).

Many of the games have been an occasional slog -- Brady's playoff win over the Crennel and the Texans in the 2016 postseason was one of the worst playoff performances of his career, and the Ravens were almost always a pain in the backside because of the pressure Pees and Co. were able to bring. But he's still found a way to come out with a victory. Here's a game-by-game breakdown of his performance, as well as the outcome for each one.
