BSJ Daily Briefing 08.27.18: Sox get swept, Decker calls it a career

Good morning!

• The Red Sox have now dropped five of seven after being swept over the weekend by a pesky Tampa team. Sean doesn't think it's time to panic yet and he makes a good case why: The Sox were bound to have a slump like this with injuries piling up among the starters.


• The unfortunate news for the Sox? The Yankees delivered a four-game sweep of the Orioles this weekend to pull themselves within six games. Not close enough for anyone to sweat too much yet, but the schedule favors the Yanks this week as well with seven games at home against the White Sox and Tigers. Things could get interesting if the Sox don't snap out of their funk.


• Eric Decker said farewell on Sunday and Chris had a good look at what's leftover for the Pats at the receiver position.


• Not a banner night for the Pats defense on Friday. It's going to be interesting to see how the defensive line depth chart shakes out ahead of the opener. Greg breaks down the good and mostly bad from Friday night.
