First two-game losing skid of the season: It’s a difficult pill to swallow, but the one thing the Revolution have avoided thus far in ’18 happened Wednesday night in Minneapolis. Despite bossing a good portion of the match, a lack of creativity and some good harassing by the Loons led New England (7-6-7) to drop three vital points and its second-straight game. The loss also snapped a three-match road unbeaten streak.
Two bad defensive mistakes put New England down 2-0 at the half: A poor header back toward Matt Turner by Jalil Anibaba led to Christian Ramirez chipping over an out-of-position Turner five minutes into the match, and a failed keep-away by Wilfried Zahibo in first-half stoppage time saw Darwin Quintero claim it, wheel to his right as cool as you please, find a sliver of space, and slot home for the Loons’ second goal of the night. That put the Revs under the cosh, especially after having a good deal of possession for the 40-plus minutes between goals.
Juuust enough on that one.
