Revolution defender Chris Tierney has undergone successful surgery to repair his torn ACL, the club announced Thursday.

Tierney, 32, of Wellesley, tore the ACL in his right knee late in the first half of the Revs' match with Atlanta United FC on May 30, and was placed on the season-ending injury list two days later. Dr. Scott Martin of Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston performed the surgery Thursday morning.

Tierney is expected to be sidelined for the next nine months.

Our best wishes go with Chris for a speedy recovery.
