Daily Briefing 06.15.18: Real MLB baseball can be fun; Bogaerts, and Pats locking up special teamers taken at BSJ Headquarters (Regular Features)

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while I continue to be bummed out that the U.S. didn't qualify for this World Cup...

  • It's amazing how baseball can run so hot and cold when it comes to its entertainment value.

  • For most of the past two weeks, Red Sox games have either been boring or against terrible competition, or both. Who wants to watch that? I love baseball and even I don't want to watch that.

  • But last night, out in Seattle? Two good teams, two very good pitchers. Just phenomenal. Figured I would nod off in the middle, but I couldn't take my eyes off Felix vs. Price. More of that, please.

  • Baseball's talking about expansion? How about contraction? The talent in MLB doesn't need to be diluted anymore.

  • The more you watch Xander Bogaerts and that sweet swing this season, the more you wonder, What the heck were the Red Sox thinking allowing him to play through that injury last season?

  • And what a double play he turned.

  • James Develin and Joe Cardona agreed to contract extensions ... now you know Bill Belichick is all about the fun this season. What's more fun than locking down more special teams guys?

  • Don't think you could pay me enough money to play Shinnecock on a day like Thursday. High winds and a dry course? It'd be quicker just to just impale myself on my 4-iron.
