Just because the World Cup will dominate the TV and the Revolution are on hiatus for the next two-plus weeks, it doesn’t mean that you can’t go out and watch good soccer with your own eyes, without the aid of technology.

There’s some solid Division 4 action going on, and it’s all a short drive away -- and most importantly, generally affordable for your wallet. BSJ encourages you to support local soccer, and help grow the game at the grassroots level.

So get your calendars out — or if we want to be millennials, type it into your phone — and jot some dates down for what should be a solid two weeks of evening football in not only around The Hub, but the region.

Between Boston City FC in Malden, Greater Lowell in Tyngsboro, and the Rhode Island Reds in Johnston, RI, Division 4 football is not far from you, will be played while the World Cup is done for the day.

There are three local matches during the World Cup break:

Saturday, June 16

Boston City FC at Rhode Island Reds, Johnston High School, Johnston, RI, 7 p.m.

Sunday, June 17

Hartford City FC at Greater Lowell FC, Tyngsboro High School, Tyngsboro, MA, 6 p.m.

BCFC will also be at Elm City Express on Wednesday, June 20 in New Haven, if anyone wants to battle Hartford traffic that day (and good luck to you if you want to do that). The Lions will have one more home match in the regular season when it takes on Greater Lowell at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 8. GLFC will also be home on June 30 taking on the Brooklyn Italians.
