Good morning!
A few random thoughts while we wait for the tide to turn back in the favor of the local teams...
- Ok, so that was a bit of a rough weekend for Boston sports. But considering the run we've been on, a little hiccup never hurt anybody.
- It started with the Celtics being done in by somebody named Thon Maker then continued with Gronk's comedy routine at Gillette, Bruins falling behind 4-1 with Tuukka getting bounced, the Sox getting no-hit and finished with both the C's and Sox losing on Sunday. Yeesh.
- Of course, everything will be right in the world if the Bruins finish off the Leafs tonight in Toronto.
- I expect that to happen. I expect Tuukka and the Bruins to be on their game. They got a little wakeup call on Saturday night, but the Bruins have responded to Bruce Cassidy's challenges all season. I expect them to answer loudly tonight.
- And if they don't, doesn't really matter. The Bruins are not losing a Game 7 here to that Leafs team. It would constitute an epic choke, and these Bruins are not chokers. What did Tom Brady say a few months ago? I didn’t come this far to only come this far. Well, that applies to the Bruins as well.
- Expect Tuukka talk to dominate local sports talk all day. And it should. He had the 40-yard stare going into the game, and played like it.
- Would help if players like Rick Nash, Charlie McAvoy and David Krejci bring their A games tonight. Looking for Nash to have a big night.
- About the Celtics ... they have some adjustments to make after dropping two-straight, but Brad Stevens is one of the best. Actually taking part in the first half would probably be a good start.
- Paging Terry Rozier...
- Thought Sean McAdam (as usual) nailed it after the Sox dropped their second-straight game.
- NFL Draft week is upon us. The nonsense (Lamar Jackson visiting the Patriots) is off the charts. There's no real news because no one knows anything about what will happen, so you get silly storylines like this. My advice is to turn the TV off until the draft starts.
With that, catch up on BSJ coverage...
