Price can't locate a cutter, and it cost the Red Sox the game: David Price was brilliant through the first seven innings, allowing just one run. He fell behind 1-0 just four batters in, but once he got through the first inning, never faced more than four batters in any one inning. "He was excellent,'' said Alex Cora. "He had that backdoor cutter going and a good mix of pitches.'' With one out in the eighth, with the game tied, Price allowed back-to-back singles. When Price overpowered Jed Lowrie for the second out, Cora was convinced Price, with his pitch count in the low 90s, still had plenty left. But then Price failed to get a cutter in on the hands against Khris Davis and he belted the pitch into the left-field seats for a tiebreaking, three-run homer. "I didn't get it in far enough,'' lamented Price. "I made pitches all day long. One pitch cost me. Didn't make a pitch when I needed to. That was the ballgame.''
