The Patriots released linebacker Shea McClellin with a failed physical designation on Monday.
The 28-year-old McClellin, who was on the shelf all last season, is a 6-foot-3, 260-pounder who spent the 2016 season with the Patriots. That year, he played in 14 games with New England, finishing with 39 total tackles and a sack.
