NFL free agency is officially here. Make sure you follow along here for all the updates, and feel free to weigh in with your thoughts in the comments — I’ll make sure I check the comments section for questions throughout the day.
11:00 p.m.: Two more notes worth passing along before we call it a night -- Tyrann Mathieu has signed with the Texans, while LeGarrette Blount has signed with Matt Patricia and the Lions.
8:30 p.m.: From Bedard...
One front office exec on Tobin: "Backup swing guy."
A general manager said the Patriots "did solid work ... good value and depth" with those three players.
Hill "needed a change of scenery. Line has gotten worse. Lacks good vision. Big back. Likes contact," said another GM.
Another GM on Hill: "2 down inside runner who will run similarly to the roles of what LeGarrette had done more than likely."
One of the few weaknesses in the Patriots' offense last year was in shortage: they ranked 24th in third- and fourth-and-1 conversions. Hill figures to help there.
We'll be back with BSJ analysis on both players.
7:48 p.m.: And now, multiple outlets are reporting the Patriots have signed OL Matt Tobin. BSJ has confirmed all three signings.
7:03 p.m.:
Source: the Patriots are signing former Bengals RB Jeremy Hill.

#Bills free agent LB Preston Brown is signing with the #Bengals, source said, on a 1-year deal. The former Northwest (Cincinnati) HS product is back home.

Structure matters. No 46-man active roster bonuses in Nate Solder's contract with the Giants. 46-man active roster bonuses are standard in the Patriots contract. Nate Solder's last deal with the Patriots contained a Pro Bowl incentive. No incentives in his contract w/ the Giants https://t.co/ioi9ya15Xh

Nate Solder says his son Hudson has one treatment left and they are hoping port will be out soon after and no more chemo for a while. Says he is doing “awesome, really awesome,” so obviously great news on that front. #NYGiants
