NFL reportedly sets 2018 cap at $177.2 million -- what does that mean for the Patriots? taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

(Bob DeChiara/USA TODAY Sports)

Mike Garofolo of NFL Media reported Monday the NFL salary cap has been set at $177.2 million for 2018.

So what does this mean for the Patriots? Let me explain.

A team’s adjusted cap consists of three numbers:

  1. League cap number.

  2. Prior year carryover.

  3. Adjustments for Likely To Be Earned (LTBE)/Not Likely To Be Earned (NLTBE) incentives.
