The Boston Bruins have acquired forward Tommy Wingels from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. The pick becomes a fourth-round selection if the Bruins advance past the first round of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs, or if the Bruins re-sign Wingels.

Wingels, 29, has seven goals and five assists for 12 points with 43 penalty minutes in 57 games with Chicago this season. He's played in 430 career NHL games with Chicago, Ottawa and San Jose, posting 60 goals and 78 assists for 138 points. He's also played in 54 career postseason games, recording two goals and six assists for eight points.

Wingels had been playing on the Blackhawks' top line with Brandon Saad and Jonathan Toews. Wingels is a versatile depth player and is best suited as a bottom-six guy. He plays hard, battles at the net and can play on the penalty kill. He's also known as a solid teammate in the room and good in the community.
