BSJ Daily Briefing 02.21.18: A phenomenal third period for the Bruins

Good morning!

A few random thoughts while we wait for the U.S.-Canada women's hockey match for the gold medal at 10:45 p.m...

• Bruins were down 2-0 to the Oilers heading into the third period and you wondered (a little) if the Bruins were going to put up the same fight they've shown consistently in their surge this year, especially after the Vancouver loss the other night.


• Silly rabbit. Bruins put together a phenomenal third period and scored three goals to win the game in regulation thanks to David Krejci's winner, which came as a result of some great work by David Backes in the corner.

• Liked what we heard from Hanley and Moreland about the signing of J.D. Martinez, but you wonder what kind of tune Hanley will be singing if the Red Sox are holding down his at-bats due to his contract trigger. But, like Hanley said, if he's hitting, he'll stick in the lineup.

And we appreciate Boston native David Young for coming on board. He reached out initially within days of our opening, and is a big believer in what we're doing.


• We've said from Day 1 that having responsible advertising that doesn't interfere with the user experience was part of the plan here. Members pay for the talent, and advertising covers the travel so we can bring you the type of coverage and insight you deserve. This is just the beginning, as more deals are in the works. As always, the member experience will be paramount in all of this. We hope you support our advertisers (already saw some good ticket deals on there, like $57 for Bruins tickets), but we're not going to beat you over the head with it. Appreciate the support
