Welcome to first and 10, a roundup of all the (mostly) Patriots-related news you need to start your day:
--Patriots defensive Devin McCourty recently had what one league source called a "clean-up" procedure done on his shoulder recently, but it's not expected to impact his offseason work. The veteran safety was on the injury report for his shoulder in the days leading up to the Super Bowl, so this news isn't a big surprise. This is usually the time of year when players opt to have minor surgeries in hopes of taking care of some of the health issues that may have dogged them at some point over the course of the season. The 30-year-old McCourty played 90 percent of the defensive snaps in the 2017 regular season. (ESPN first reported the story.)
--We took note of Dante Scarnecchia's birthday on Wednesday. We were taken to task by some folks who also reminded us that Randy Moss celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, while Drew Bledsoe's birthday was also on Wednesday.
Quick links today...
1. Our position-by-position breakdown continues with a look at the running back spot. Wide receiver breakdown is coming later on Thursday, and offensive line will finish out the week on Friday.
2. Richmond offensive coordinator Jeff Durden talks about Kyle Lauletta and what he might bring to the NFL.
Extra Point:
With the Raiders set to cut Sebastian Janikowski, Tom Brady is the only player from the 2000 NFL draft still with the team that drafted him.
No player from the 2001 or 2002 draft (or any earlier draft) is still with the team that drafted him.
