RED SOX
Dayn Perry of CBS Sports.com suggests the Red Sox take a look at free agent infielder Todd Frazier. Perry notes that Frazier would be a nice platoon option at both first and third, and could even get some time at second while Dustin Pedroia recovers from off-season surgery. (Frazier hasn't played second in the big leagues, but has been around the position a lot thanks to over-shifts and could probably handle the new role).
Frazier would give the Sox some right-handed pop and also offer some insurance at DH in the event Hanley Ramirez struggles or has injury issues.
It's not a bad suggestion. J.D. Martinez remains the preferred target, but obviously, Frazier would be way more affordable. He's been linked to both New York teams, but here it is, the first full week of February and he's still without a deal.
The Sox could do worse, given how affordable Frazier would be.

TAKE I MAY REGRET IN A MONTH:
On Sunday, the MLB Players Association released a statement in which dismissed any suggestion that it was considering a partial boycott of spring training. In recent days, after some agents speculated about ways to protest the cold Hot Stove market, there were hints that players might not report until Feb. 24, the mandatory report date in the collective bargaining agreement.
But the union rejected that tactic and for good reason -- that would have only increased strife between players and owners and gotten the 2018 season off to a poor start.
The Players Association is understandably alarmed than better than 100 players remain unsigned a week before pitchers and catchers report. But a job action wasn't the proper response.
