Good morning!
A few random thoughts, mostly about Tom vs. Time, Chapter 2 — Revenge of the Beefcakes, while I contemplate who gets sick of the other first on this trip, me or Pricey...
Price and I will be making our way to Minneapolis in the middle of the day if we're quiet for a portion of it. Don't worry, we have some cool stuff coming. An awesome Celtics post from a guest contributor will be up mid-morning.
And, of course, we'll be all over it in the Twin Cities, so stay close to your phone or computer.
The second episode of Tom vs. Time dropped on Sunday (classic shameless click-mongering). Since my first review went over so well (Hi there, high-strung segment of Patriots Nation on alert for anti-Pats Propaganda — you're needed on that wall), I'm back at it again! So buckle up, and commence with your overanalysis:
- Opening scene, back to his high school days: Ok, so when are we going to talk about Tom's nose transformation? Actually, I went through that awkward swollen nose phase in high school too, and I totally look like Brady now, so it's all good.
- Oh yeah, laugh it up.
- Ok, you can stop laughing now.
- Now Brady's doing a workout on the beach with Alex Guerrero.
- Oh, cue the Baywatch music, it's Brady Confidant/Gate Keeper Ben Rawitz:
- 'Sup ladies
- Brady's working with legendary throwing guru Tom House (who they never identify for some reason) and, seriously, I'm loving this stuff. As a baseball guy and QB mechanics nerd, the discussions about miniscule technique is making me geek out.
- I also am a big fan that Brady does a lot of drills in helmet and pads. Seriously, I am. It has always driven me crazy when people train for their sport, like baseball or softball, without wearing the gear they are actually going to play in. Why would you take BP without a batting helmet on? If that's how you hit in the game, then that's how you should practice. Yeah, I'm a tough coach...
- "Having a mild orgasm ... Yeah, we had a major (bleeping) breakthrough." Maybe they should release these after 8 p.m. Tom House ... uncomfortable with the phrasing. Virgin ears!
- So which Boston sports talk show host is going to ask whether Julian Edelman's tough offseason workouts with Brady were responsible for his knee injury? "I'm not saying, I'm just asking the question..."
- Slumming in Brookline...
- Oh, a Felger voice cameo. And BigJimWorry!
- Brady's watching film and waxing poetic about watching film. Be still my heart. Yes, Felger, I'm very much enjoying this. "I could literally watch film all day." I think Tom's inviting me over to the crib. He is, right?
- Brady's watching the 2007 Super Bowl and still can't get over that he and Randy Moss didn't connect on that last-gasp deep pass.
- Uh oh, inside secret alert between Brady and Josh McDaniels: 96 Cavalier Roy. Seriously, this is how these guys talk. They'll say stuff like, "Maybe we should Under Tom that next time." Their own language.
- Gisele gets into the games! Starts chants and everything.
- Tom's angry again after the Panthers' loss, feels the team thinks it can just walk out and win. Did you notice that Gisele wasn't in the car this time? Lesson learned from the Chiefs game. Fortress of Solitude time.
- So I'm guessing that's a no on the Hyundai commercial, Tom?
- Next Chapter: Edelman tells Brady to go pound sand for saying his route was "lazy."
@GregABedard My Mom says the BSJ subscription I gave my Dad is the best gift I’ve ever given him. He’s totally obsessed & talks you guys up to all friend & fam. Thanks for making me look good.
