Since the Patriots now have the opportunity to repeat, thought it would be appropriate to provide a current status of the Patriots who were on the roster for the Patriots victory against the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.
The following tables attempt to show the current roster status of the 72 Patriots who were on the Patriots roster the day of Super Bowl XLIX. (This is as of Jan. 25, 2018.) This illustrates why sometimes people say the NFL stands for "Not For Long" -- Super Bowl XLIX was played on February 1, 2015, and less than three years later the Patriots roster looks very different. (Consider this a companion piece to this story that looks at the roster turnover from last season to this one.)
As you can see below 19 Patriots (15 active and four on Injured Reserve) currently have a chance to win a third Super Bowl ring with the Patriots, while Brady has a chance to win his sixth.

Answer: On the official NFL transaction wire it was recorded that the Patriots declined his option.
