That’s how the Bruins have been playing of late and it continued with a 3-2 victory over the Senators on Thursday night at Canadian Tire Centre. It didn’t help that the Bruins allowed the first goal for the seventh consecutive game, but they battled through and finished with another win.

Next man up: This is one of Bruce Cassidy’s slogans. It was true earlier this season when the Bruins were dealing with numerous injuries, along with a roster full of rookies. That adversity proved crucial because right now the Bruins are without two of their best players – Brad Marchand (suspension) and Charlie McAvoy (heart procedure). Tim Schaller and Danton Heinen had big performances against the Senators.
“It’s good. It proves we can win with anybody in the lineup,” Schaller said. “Obviously, those guys are definitely a loss not to be in the lineup, but we got two points, which is big.”
Heinen was moved up to Patrice Bergeron's line early in the second period, and he also took Marchand's place on the first power-play unit and scored during the man-advantage.
