Good morning!
A few random thoughts on this beautiful morning of the AFC Championship, otherwise known as the New England Patriots Invitational:
- With this whole Tom Brady thumb thing getting the region on edge a little bit — as I've been saying the whole time, he's fine and will play fine — it feels like this is setting up for one big release of nervous energy this afternoon.
- I'm hoping Tom Coughlin is in the press box like last week, because I heard he had a hard time keeping his emotions in check. That would be fun to witness.
- Oh, and I guess that would be between his periodic hauntings of the Patriots or whatever. Dumbest storyline this week, and we've had a bunch.
- Do you think Bill Belichick woke up with a smile on his face this morning when it hit him that Blake Bortles is the opposition?
- The Bruins are just awesome, and they're within striking distance of the Lightning in the Atlantic. We could be looking at a time when all four teams are in first place, or at least reigning division champions.
- Claude Julien's team stinks and, yes, he's partially to blame. The Canadiens have that same No one's having any fun look on their face the Bruins had the past couple of seasons.
- Glad to see the Red Sox' mouths are still working down at Foxwoods. Lord knows the transaction machine isn't.
- Everything is fine.
- Unsung hero for the Patriots today? I'm going with Dwayne Allen, which five catches for 65 yards and a score. Who ya got?
- Have fun today, and be safe.
