It’ll be a busy few days for offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels and defensive coordinator Matt Patricia.
The interview schedule for teams interested in them as potential head coaches is starting to take shape. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media, the Giants will interview both McDaniels and Patricia on Friday. the Bears are also talking to McDaniels on Friday. Meanwhile, Patricia and Flores will interview with the Cardinals on Saturday, wth the Lions set for sometime “this weekend.”
Asked whether or not he takes pride in developing young coaches, Bill Belichick redirected the question.
“Well, I take the most pride in winning,” he said prior to practice. “The things that we do to help us win, the people that help us win and their contributions – those are all of the things that are important. Other things come with that. But, really this program is geared towards winning, so if it’s about winning then it’s important. There are other things that are subsidiaries of that, but that’s the most important thing. That’s what we're here for.”
Almost perfect attendance
Running back Mike Gillislee (knee) was the only player not spotted at the start of Patriots practice on Thursday morning, a session held in pads in the practice bubble. Defensive end Eric Lee, who has been hobbled by an ankle injury, was back on the field.
The Patriots were originally scheduled to practice on the Gillette Stadium game field, but Thursday’s wintry conditions ended up forcing them inside. Of course, it was a challenge for some just to get to the bubble.
