Bruins assign Anders Bjork to Providence

The Boston Bruins have assigned rookie forward Anders Bjork to Providence. He's played 28 games for the Bruins and has four goals and eight assists for 12 points, including a plus-2 rating.

Since the Bruins finally have a healthy roster and the team is winning, Bjork has been a healthy scratch the last two games. A stint with the P-Bruins comes at a perfect time for Bjork, who can continue to develop as a pro at the AHL level. It will also help his confidence and it's better for him to be playing instead of watching from press level in Boston.

General manager Don Sweeney and coach Bruce Cassidy have been discussing the possibility of sending Bjork to Providence the last couple of weeks. He's been inconsistent and has been dealing with the normal ebbs and flows of a rookie season.

Now that Bjork is in Providence, it also allows the Bruins to activate defenseman Adam McQuaid, who has been on injured reserve since breaking his right fibula on Oct. 19. However, Cassidy told reporters after Wednesday's practice that he's not expecting any lineup changes when the Bruins host the Florida Panthers Thursday night at 7 p.m. at TD Garden.
