James Harrison 'hopeful' he'll get playing time Sunday vs. Jets

FOXBOROUGH — New Patriot James Harrison held a brief session with the media at his locker — his first with the New England media — after Friday's practice that lasted just over two minutes and consisted of multiple one-word answers.

When it came to explaining his feelings about his old team, he referred back to his Instagram post earlier in the day. But he did acknowledge it’s been a unique experience -- asked what the last 72 hours have been like for him, he replied flatly: “Different.”


“You’ve got to learn a new scheme,” added the 39-year-old, who was placed on waivers earlier this month by Pittsburgh.

He did say that the defensive leaders like Duron Harmon and Devin McCourty have lent a hand when it comes to helping him master the playbook.

“They’ve been very helpful, trying to (help me) learn the differences in schemes,” he explained.

The expectation is that Harrison will see snaps in Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Jets in hopes of getting him up to speed as fast as possible for the postseason. He said he’ll “hopefully” get a lot of playing time, but that’s in the hands of the coaching staff.

“I’ll go out there wherever they ask,” Harrison replied. “I’m going to go out here (whenever) the coach puts me out there.”
