Most of the spots at the top of the heap have been decided, but for most of the rest of the league, there's still plenty to play for. Read on to find out where your favorite team checks in with a week to go in the regular season.
1. Patriots (12-3 — last week, No. 1): The Patriots have been the one seed in five of their seven Super Bowl appearances under Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. The top seed in the AFC has gone to the Super Bowl in each of the last four season (the Patriots in 2014 and 2016 and the Broncos in 2013 and 2015). This week: vs. Jets.
2. Steelers (12-3 — last week, No. 2): Say what you will about his decision at the end of the loss to the Patriots, but Ben Roethlisberger is on a bit of a roll. Since Week 11, he’s averaging 325.5 passing yards per game with 16 total touchdowns and five picks while completing 68 percent of his passes. This week: vs. Browns.
3. Eagles (13-2 — last week, No. 3): Philly’s ugly win over the Raiders on Christmas night means that Week 17 won’t mean anything. Martellus Bennett used to say that an ugly win is better than a pretty loss, but I’m not sure how valid that assessment is in this case. This week: vs. Dallas.
4. Panthers (11-4 — last week, No. 4): None of their wins over the second half of the season have been tremendously impressive, but Carolina keeps chugging forward, and can now clinch the No. 2 seed with a win over Atlanta and a loss or tie for New Orleans. This week: at Falcons.
5. Vikings (12-3 — last week, No. 5): Minnesota can clinch a first-round bye with a win or a Carolina loss. This week: vs. Bears.
6. Rams (11-4 — last week, No. 6): Los Angeles, the champions of the NFC West, have had their last six wins decided by an average of 20.2 points per game. This week: vs. Niners.
7. Saints (11-4 — last week, No. 7): New Orleans can clinch the NFC South with a win, a Carolina loss, or if they tie and the Panthers’ game finishes in a tie. This week: at Tampa Bay.
8. Falcons (9-6 — last week, No. 8): Atlanta can clinch a playoff berth with a win over the Panthers or a Seattle loss to Arizona. This week: vs. Carolina.
9. Jaguars (10-5 — last week, No. 9): The AFC South champs are locked in, but that road loss to the Niners than featured a defensive meltdown and some angry words among teammates was disconcerting, especially as it happened on the cusp of the postseason. This week: at Titans.
10. Chiefs (9-6 — last week, No. 10): Kansas City, which won the AFC West, looks to be pointed in the right direction again. While the Chiefs are nowhere near as good as they were at the start of the 2017 regular season, they might have some of their mojo back. This week: at Broncos.
11. Ravens (9-6 — last week, No. 11): If Baltimore beats Cincinnati, the Ravens are in. Honestly, if they don’t, they probably shouldn’t be in the playoffs anyway. This week: vs. Bengals.
12. Seahawks (9-6 — last week, No. 12): Bad look when you’re still chasing a playoff spot, Earl Thomas. This week: vs. Cardinals.
13. Chargers (9-7 — last week, No. 13): Despite a four-game win streak and a four-game losing streak, somehow, Los Angeles heads into the regular-season finale with a shot to make the playoffs. This week: vs. Raiders.
14. Cowboys (8-7 — last week, No. 14): Ugly season for Dallas, which was officially eliminated with the loss to Seattle. This week: at Eagles.
15. Lions (8-7 — last week, No. 15): This just feels so right — middle of the pack, hovering around .500 record, can’t do much of anything really well. The 2017 Lions: Unforgettably Forgettable! This week: vs. Packers.
16. Bills (8-7 — last week, No. 16): I know Buffalo desperately wants to make it back to the playoffs, but given the expectations on this team, a 9-7 record regardless of whether or not it makes the postseason should be viewed as a sizable step forward for the franchise. This week: at Dolphins.
17. Raiders (6-9 — last week, No. 17):
