PHILADELPHIA -- The Boston Bruins continue to roll and have won six of the last seven games after a 3-0 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday at Wells Fargo Center.
The Bruins received goals from Ryan Spooner, David Pastrnak and Brad Marchand. Tuukka Rask finished with 30 saves to post his first shutout of the season and 39th of his career.
Forward Anders Bjork returned to the lineup after missing seven games with an upper-body injury. Forward David Krejci, who has been dealing with back issues, also returned.
"If he's feeling good enough then he's going to play," Cassidy said prior to the game. "It'll be his call at 1 o'clock. It's a good problem (lineup decisions) to have. I don't like telling any player that he's out of the lineup, especially guys that have been in and helping us win, but that's part of the business."
Bjork had been playing with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand to start the season, but he played with Krejci and Ryan Spooner. David Pastrnak remained with Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand. Danton Heinen played with Riley Nash and David Backes.
Frank Vatrano and Matt Beleskey were the healthy scratches.
Cassidy decided to go with six defensemen against the Flyers, so Paul Postma was a healthy scratch.
Tuukka Rask started his third consecutive game.
Jake DeBrusk remains sidelined but he skated this morning and could be a possibility to return against the Predators on Monday in Nashville.
Observations from the third period
- After review, it's no goal for Noel Acciari, who caught the puck with a high stick.
- Rask is controlling his rebounds again today.
- The Flyers begin the third period with 22 seconds remaining on the power play.
- After review, it's goaltender interference, so no goal for the Flyers.
- That's going to be a goal for the Flyers on the power play. I'm being objective here when I say, again, that was a terrible tripping call that led to Philly's power-play goal.
- No way that's a penalty on McAvoy. Looked like a clean hit. Tripping? C'mon.
- Marchand is always fun to watch, but especially when he's playing like someone kicked his dog. Scores his ninth of the season to give Boston a 3-0 lead.
- Pastrnak gives the Bruins a 2-0 lead. Sick play by Marchand to get Pasta the puck for his pointblank shot.
- It's a good sign when Brandon Carlo is shooting the puck.
- Marchand is on the ice to start the period.
- Looking at that hit on Marchand again, I'm shocked Ivan Provorov wasn't ejected.
- It's not often that Charlie McAvoy doesn't recover the puck after a turnover.
- For someone who's been dealing with concussion issues, that's a bad hit to be on the receiving end for Marchand. Provorov given a penalty for illegal check to the head. He ignored the puck and ran Marchand, who slow to his feet and goes to the locker room.
- Nice move by Spooner and he gives the Bruins a 1-0 lead. It's his first of the season.
- It sure looked like that puck went in for the Bruins.
- With the Flyers struggling as a team, you knew this was going to happen. Wayne Simmonds drops the gloves with Kevan Miller. It was a spirited bout.
- Asked Cassidy before the game his thoughts about producing offensively on the PK. He's all for it if opportunity presents itself.
- Just like that, the Flyers are going on the power play. Pastrnak with a holding penalty.
