Notebook: LB Marcus Rush an intriguing available prospect for Patriots taken at BSJ Headquarters (Patriots)

(Orlando Ramirez/USA TODAY Sports)

Per a league source, the Patriots had the following players in for workouts on Monday:

QB Garrett Grayson (Colorado State)
WR Tim Patrick (Utah)
LB Marcus Rush (Michigan State)
DE Jhaustin Thomas (Iowa State)
WR Deonte Thompson (Florida)

A few intriguing names in the group, including Grayson, a former CSU star who has since been added to the Falcons practice squad. While I’m sure Atlanta could always use quarterbacking depth, it’s probably also not coincidental that Grayson was added to the Atlanta roster days after he worked out for the Patriots … and in advance of the New England-Atlanta game this weekend. I’m certainly not suggesting that Grayson will be a fountain of information, but every little scrap of knowledge certainly helps. (For what it’s worth, Grayson isn’t the only one who has since been scooped pup by another team. Thompson was added by the Bills on Tuesday.) When it comes to who’s left, the most pro ready of the group might be Rush, a pass-rushing linebacker who impressed the Pro Football Focus crew with his work in the 2016 preseason.
