Week Four starts with a familiar name at the top of our big board, but plenty of changes throughout, including two new teams in our top 10.
1. Chiefs (4-0 — last week, No. 1): Monday night wasn’t as dominant as some of their other performances on the season, but in this weird season, it was certainly enough to allow them to keep the top spot. Next week: at Texans.
2. Packers (3-1 — last week, No. 4): None of their games have necessarily been works of art, but still, they keep winning. Pretty much every other team in our top seven other than the Chiefs has at least one semi-ugly loss — it’s just that Green Bay’s defeat was to another team in our top five. That’s why they are where they are. Next week: at Cowboys.
3. Steelers (3-1 — last week, No. 5): It feels like we should be more excited about the Steelers — I mean, they were probably just one or two busted plays away from being undefeated. But the schedule has been underwhelming and Antonio Brown doesn’t look happy, which certainly tempers things. Still, there’s no reason to think they’re not going to be in the mix all season long, provided they stay healthy. Next week: vs. Jaguars.
4. Falcons (3-1 — last week, No. 3): It was wide open for Atlanta to move up to No. 2, but a home loss to the Bills bumps them down a spot. Next week: Bye.
5. Patriots (2-2 — last week, No. 2): That secondary needs to get things figured out. And fast. Next week: at Bucs.
6. Broncos (3-1 — last week, No. 9): If the Broncos continue to get anything out of that offense, the defense is good enough to keep them in games all season long, provided they stay healthy. Next week: Bye.
7. Eagles (3-1 — last week, No. 11): I’m all in on the Eagles as this year’s worst-to-first team for a few reasons, including the fact that LeGarrette Blount still has those nasty stiff-arm skills. The last two wins have been by a combined total of five points, but wins are wins, and so the Eagles keep climbing. Next week: vs. Cardinals.
8. Seahawks (2-2 — last week, No. 8): They’re still in the top half of the league in offense and defense, and so we’re going to keep them in our top 10, even though the don’t quite feel like a top 10 team, at least at this stage of the season. Good divisional test looms: Next week: at Rams.
9. Texans (2-2 — last week, No. 13):
57 points... that'll work.
