FOXBOROUGH — James White knows a little more about his new teammate than most of the rest of the guys in the Patriots locker room: White and Phillip Dorsett were teammates together at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale.
“He’s a good dude who works extremely hard. Extremely fast, as you guys probably know,” White said Sunday morning at Gillette Stadium. “But we’ll wait and see what happens when we get out there on the practice field.”
White and Dorsett were one of several players to come out of St. Thomas Aquinas and reach the NFL. It’s a group that includes Michael Irvin, Leonard Hankerson, Geno Atkins, Gio Bernard, Joey Bosa and Marcus Gilbert. White split carries with Bernard, and ended up rushing for over 1,000 yards and over 20 touchdowns in his senior year.
“We had quite a few guys who have the opportunity to play in the league right about now,” recalled White, who was a part of the 2008 National Championship team. “I think a lot of guys on that team were good people and they work hard and were able to have some success.”
