Notebook: Training camp roster set after Celtics add Andrew White, Daniel Dixon taken at BSJ Headquarters (Celtics)

Barring a trade or a last minute cut, the Celtics roster is now set for next month’s training camp after a pair of agreements were reached over the weekend with undrafted rookie free agents.

Former Syracuse swingman Andrew White came to terms on a partially guaranteed deal late last week, which was initially reported by Mike Waters of Syracuse.com. Boston also added another guard over the weekend in the form of William and Mary product Daniel Dixon. That news was broken by Nicola Lupo of Sportando.

The moves bring the Celtics training camp roster to 20 players overall. There are 16 players signed to guaranteed deals (one will need to be cut or traded) and two players who will be kept on two-way contracts (Jabari Bird, Kadeem Allen). Barring something crazy happening, Dixon and White won't make the final roster, but they will get a small guarantee before being cut at the end of training camp. In recent years, those guarantees have been around $25,000-$50,000 for training camp invites. Additionally, the Celtics will get first D-League rights on both players with the Maine Red Claws if they clear waivers.

Here's an updated look at the Celtics depth chart:

Guards: Thomas, Smart, Rozier, Larkin, Allen, Bird, Dixon

3/4s: Hayward, Crowder, Brown, Morris, Tatum, Yabusele, Ojeleye, Nader, White

4/5s: Horford, Baynes, Zizic, Theis

Needless to say, it's going to be a very competitive training camp, even though guys like White and Dixon probably won't even the see the floor much in the preseason games.

Why are the Celtics bringing in White and Dixon?

They are both seasoned elite 3-point shooters.

White, 6-foot-7 swingman, led Syracuse in scoring this past season, averaging 18.5 points per game. He also broke the school's all-time record for most 3-pointers in a season, which was previously held by Gerry McNamara. White played for the Cavs summer league team in Las Vegas, where he averaged 7.0 points in 12 minutes per game. He shot 50 percent from 3-point-range in those five contests. He also has strong defensive instincts for a wing, which should give him a chance to eventually develop into a 3-and-D NBA player.

Dixon is coming off of a great four-year career at William and Mary. He averaged 19.2 PPG, 4.7 RPG, and 2.5 APG while shooting almost 39 percent from 3-point range. Dixon, 23, should give the Red Claws some size at 6-foot-6 as he attempts to play his way into the NBA over the next couple seasons.
