PREGAME NOTES

After 11 different B’s skaters recorded at least a point in Saturday’s win over the Flyers, Bruce Cassidy isn’t tinkering with his lineup on Sunday — save for Jeremy Swayman earning the start in net. In his career at TD Garden, Swayman is 8-0-0 with a 1.24 GAA and a .945 save percentage.

The Flames have been one of the stingiest teams in the NHL — tied with Carolina for first in the league in goals against per game at 2.00. Former Bruin Dan Vladar is expected to get the start in net for the Flames, with the 24-year-old netminder 3-0-1 on the season with a .933 save percentage. 

The Flames’ strong start this season has largely been a byproduct of their stout D-zone capabilities, but Calgary has a number of impact forwards that can bury you down the other end of the ice. BC alum Johnny Gaudreau has 21 points in 18 games, while Andrew Mangiapane has scored 14 goals already.  

"I expect they'll play a pretty typical Darryl Sutter type of game that's not gonna be a ton of surprises,” Cassidy said of the Flames. “They're going to be hard. They're going to get to the front of the net. They're going to protect the front of the net. They're going to want to win the slot battle. I suspect they'll play behind our D early on, force us to break pucks out, go 200 feet. They're gonna manage it well between the blues. And that's what I expect out of them. 

“So it'll be a good game for us. That's kind of how we want to play. They've got some guys — Lindholm, Gaudreau, Maginapne — these guys that can certainly create. Tkachuk will get to the net and be ornery, just like we have some guys that can create. But in general, they're a strong defensive team, play sound in front of their goaltender. We like to think we play that way as well. So should be a good challenge in that regard."
