Patriots 2025 Free Agency Tracker: New England matches RFA offer sheet for LB Elliss
The NFL legal tampering period opens at Noon, with the start of the league year coming at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
Most of the remaining big names in free agency will go in the next 24 hours, and the Patriots are expected to be busy.
But, as expected, many names have been removed from the list — and will continue to be today — as teams move to keep their best players off the market. And there will also be trades as teams get their rosters lined up.
The Patriots began the day by trading Davon Godchaux to the Saints for a 2026 7th-round pick. The big fella wasn't a fit for the new attacking-style scheme, and he's not really a culture fit either. So it was time for him to go.

- Broncos re-signed DT DJ Jones.
- Raiders re-signed DT Adam Butler, the former Patriot who would fit the new scheme.
- Seahawks traded WR DK Metcalf to the Steelers.
- Broncos re-signed backup QB Jarrett Stidham
- Bengals reached agreement with OL Cody Ford
- Rams reached agreement with WR Davante Adams on a contract.
- Jets re-signed LB Jamien Sherwood. (Patriots target)
- Seahawks re-signed LB Ernest Jones (Patriots target) and DT Jarran Reed.
- Vikings re-signed RB Aaron Jones.
- Lions released veteran DE Za'Darius Smith.
- Chiefs re-signed LB Nick Bolton.
- Cardinals re-signed edge Baron Browning.
- Browns extend DE Myles Garrett.
- Bills released DE Von Miller.
- Commanders re-signed TE Zach Ertz.
- Panthers re-signed TE Tommy Tremble and C Austin Corbett.
