PREGAME NOTES

David Pastrnak will make his preseason debut tonight against New York and will skate on a line with David Krejci and Pavel Zacha.

While the B’s will be looking to see how Zacha fares in that top-six spot in place of Taylor Hall, there will be multiple other players looking to lock up NHL roles with a strong game tonight — including Jack Studnicka, Marc McLaughlin and Chris Wagner.

Fabian Lysell, who exited last Saturday’s game against the Flyers due to injury, is expected to play tonight and will skate on a third line with Jakub Lauko and John Beecher. 

Some good news ahead of Wednesday’s practice, as Taylor Hall was spotted skating with both Charlie McAvoy and Brad Marchand. Even though Hall is still considered “week to week” with an upper-body injury, Jim Montgomery said that the veteran winger is trying to accelerate that timeline. "What I'm finding out is how tough he is,” Montgomery said of Hall. “And I guess his pain tolerance is really high. He's pushing it. He doesn't want it to be week to week. And we're just monitoring it right now. That was his first day on the ice, so we'll see how he feels tomorrow. So there's a little bit of hope that he can come back sooner than week-to-week.”

Montgomery noted that Jeremy Swayman will get the start in net Wednesday, and is expected to play the entire game.
