PREGAME NOTES

After missing the last two games with a lower-body injury, Charlie McAvoy is expected to return to the lineup on Monday.

However, the Bruins might still be shorthanded on the blue line, as Bruce Cassidy noted that both Derek Forbort and Connor Clifton could be unavailable due to COVID “testing issues”. If Forbort and Clifton are ruled out, John Moore and Urho Vaakanainen will slot in.  

Nick Foligno remains ruled out and will undergo an MRI in Boston on Tuesday. Both Jake DeBrusk and Tomas Nosek are not cleared to return from COVID protocols quite yet, so Karson Kuhlman will slot into the B’s lineup in place of Foligno. 

Both T.J. Oshie and Nicklas Backstrom are expected to return to the Caps lineup after missing the last three games each due to a non-COVID illness. 

Zach Fucale is expected to start in net for the Caps on Monday. The 26-year-old netminder has a .980 save percentage over three games this season.
