After a tough loss to the Maple Leafs on Saturday, the Bruins will open up a busy 4-in-6 slate with a home matchup against the Senators on Tuesday. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m at TD Garden.  Follow along for updates from Tuesday’s game.

PREGAME NOTES

Tonight marks the first meeting between the Bruins and Senators at TD Garden since Nov. 2, 2019. 

The lone change for the Bruins’ lineup will be the return of Jack Studnicka — who will skate at right wing on a line with Jake DeBrusk and Erik Haula. With Studnicka returning to the ice, Curtis Lazar will be bumped down to the fourth line, while Karson Kuhlman will be a health scratch. Jeremy Swayman will get the start in net.

The Senators will be shorthanded entering Tuesday’s matchup, with forwards Connor Brown, Austin Watson and Dylan Gambrell — along with defenseman Nick Holden — all placed in COVID-19 protocols. 

One of the youngest teams in the league, the Sens have lost four straight games and sit at 3-7-1 on the season. Ottawa head coach D.J. Smith did not name a starter in net for Tuesday between Matt Murray and Anton Forsberg. 

"They play hard. I think D.J. Smith wants a team that's hard to play against," Bruce Cassidy said of Ottawa. "Obviously they're not where they need to be with experience in those close games. Seems like a team that's still learning how to play with the lead, win, close out games, or stay in games if it's not going their way. There are still growing pains.

"I think they're going through some different goaltending challenges as well. Once they square those away, it makes your team better automatically. But good young talent, play hard. I don't know what to expect tonight. I know they have a few younger guys in the lineup because they got hit with COVID a little bit."
