Boston made sure to pack the bats on the plane yesterday, as they accumulated 24 hits. They played some relatively small ball tonight, with only six of their hits being for extra bases. Rob Refsnyder got himself two doubles, and David Hamilton got one as well. Jarren Duran led off the game with a home run, and Enmanuel Valdez hit a three run shot in the fourth. Jamie Westbrook hit his first Major League home run, as was smiling from ear to ear as he rounded the bases. Five Red Sox batters had multiple RBI tonight, with Ceddane Rafaela leading the team with four.
I feel like I have said this a lot this season, but it was another outstanding start from Tanner Houck on the hill. He went five hitless innings to start the game, pitched seven in total, with two runs on three hits, no walks, and nine strikeouts. Cam Booser would replace him in the eighth, and he would pitch the rest of the game, throwing two scoreless innings and striking out three.
My Player of the Game: Ceddanne Rafaela - He continues his great rookie season, going 4-6 tonight with four RBI, bringing his rookie leading total to 37 on the year.
Tomorrows game is slated for another 8:10 p.m. first pitch. Probable starters for that one are Cooper Criswell (3-2, 3.92 ERA) and Garrett Crochet (5-5, 3.49 ERA).
