FINAL: Red Sox 12, Baltimore Orioles 10 - Sox Hang Eight Runs On Burnes, Hold On To Lead In Shootout Win

The Red Sox (64-57) tie the Player's Weekend series against the Baltimore Orioles (72-51) at one game a piece with a 12-10 win.

Boston's bats were on fire tonight, as they totaled 14 hits, with eight of them being for extra bases. The scoring started in the first inning when Wilyer Abreu doubled to right to bring in Jarren Duran, and Rafael Devers would follow up with a double of his own, scoring Abreu. Devers would strike again in the third, this time hitting his 26th home run of the season to center field, giving the Sox a 4-1 lead. After the Orioles tied the game in the third with three runs scored, Boston would respond with four runs in the top of the fourth. Connor Wong got on the board with an RBI single to right, and then Masataka Yoshida hit a three run shot to right center field, his eighth of the season, which made it 8-4. The Sox wouldn't score again until the seventh, when David Hamilton and Jarren Duran both hit solo home runs, making it 11-6. The Orioles would bring the game within two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but Yoshida would increase the lead to three with an RBI single, getting Connor Wong over the plate after he doubled for Boston's final run of the night.

On the defensive side, Brennan Bernardino would get the start tonight in what would be a bullpen game for the Sox. He would pitch to only three batters, striking out the first two and walking one. Zack Kelly would get the final out of the first, and that would be it for him. Cooper Criswell would come in next and pitch the bulk of tonight's contest, throwing three and a third innings. He would get the win, despite giving up six runs on nine hits and walking four. Bailey Horn would replace him for two outs, which he got by way of the strikeout, with runners on the corners in the bottom of the fifth. Lucas Sims would come in and pitch an inning of perfect baseball, but then Luis Garcia came in and allowed three runs on four hits, also giving up a home run in an inning pitched. Chris Martin would pitch the eighth, where he gave up three hits and a run. The Red Sox would deploy Kenley Jansen in the ninth for the save, where he struck out two and forced a groundout to end the game.

My Player of the Game: Masataka Yoshida - Masa continues his great play with a 3-4 night, including a three run home run off of Corbin Burnes in the fourth. He had four RBI total, and he also walked once.

Tomorrow's game will begin at 7:05 p.m., with the probable starters being Brayan Bello (10-5, 4.97 ERA) and Cade Povich (1-5, 6.27).
