Final: Yankees 5, Red Sox 3

In a sometimes bizarre, mistake-filled game, the Yankees outlasted the Red Sox 5-3 to sweep the two-game series at Fenway and send the Red Sox one game closer to official postseason elimination.

The Yankees scored three unearned runs off rookie starter Brayan Bello in the fifth when the Sox committed two errors.

The Red Sox, meanwhile, managed just seven hits. For a minute, in the eighth inning, it appeared as though the Sox had pulled to within a run. But a replay challenge revealed that J.D. Martinez, who beat a throw to first, missed the first base bag, costing the Sox a run.
