Final: Red Sox 6, Yankees 4 - Red Sox score 6 runs in 1st inning, Crochet strikes out 12 batters
The Red Sox close out their final series against the New York Yankees with a 6-4 victory.
Despite only producing runs in the first inning, Boston's productive start gave them the necessary cushion to get the win.
After a 1-2-3 start to the game for Garrett Crochet, the Red Sox scored six runs against Yankees starter Will Warren.
Jarren Duran lead the charge with a lead-off triple, smacking a line-drive off the Green Monster. One at-bat later, Alex Bregman drove home Duran with a ground ball past the middle infield.

Romy Gonzalez scored Boston's third run sneaking a double into right field, and Masataka Yoshida followed with a sac fly RBI to center field. Rob Refnsyder continued Boston's RBI streak bringing home a run on a fielder's choice play.

This massive lead gave Crochet much needed run support in the back half of his start. In six innings, Crochet allowed three earned runs, but he struck out 12 batters and kept the Yankees at five hits.
New York's three runs against Crochet came between the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth inning, Ahmed Rosario snuck a two-run home run over the monster, and Aaron Judge followed with a solo shot to right center in the fifth.

Boston's bullpen was able to maintain a two-run lead the rest of the game. After Matz finished the seventh inning, Garrett Whitlock struck out three batters in the eighth to set up a save opportunity for Aroldis Chapman.
And in the ninth, Chapman picked up his 30th save of the season to secure a 6-4 win for the Red Sox.

This was considerably one of the most important games of the season, and the Red Sox found a way to get the win. The Red Sox finished the season series with a record of 9-4. Considering both of these teams are vying against one another in the AL wild card rankings, this record against the Yankees holds even more merit.
Tomorrow, Boston has the off-day, but they will start a series against the Athletics on Tuesday. First pitch will be at 6:45 p.m.
