Final: White Sox 3, Red Sox 2

The Red Sox losing streak reached a season-high five games as they were swept by the visiting Chicago White Sox, 3-2.

The White Sox raced out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning off substitute starter Tanner Houck. Six relievers then combined to keep the White Sox scoreless after that.

However, the offense was again ineffective. Boston clawed back with two in the sixth on a groundout by J,D. Martinez and a single from Christian Vazquez.

In the ninth, the Sox threatened with a leadoff double from Martinez. But the Sox couldn't advance pinch-runner Franchy Cordero to third, much less to home.
