Final: Rays 8, Red Sox 4

Nick Pivetta had been the driving force for the Red Sox rotation over the last two months, going 8-1 with a 1.95 ERA in his last 11 starts. But on Tuesday, he turned in his worst outing since mid-April, and the Sox were hammered by the Tampa Bay Rays, 8-4.

Even after the Red Sox erased a 3-0 hole they dug in the first inning with two of their own in the first and another in the third, the Rays struck for four runs in the sixth, chasing Pivetta.

The Red Sox, meanwhile manged just one more run after the second inning.
