Final: Royals 13, Red Sox 5

Capping a terrible series in Kansas City, the Red Sox were thoroughly embarrassed in a 13-5 loss to the Royals, their fourth loss in the last five games, dropping them two games under .500.

Center fielder Jarren Duran had a brutal afternoon in which he misplayed several balls and was later seen jawing with fans on two occasions. Duran had to be consoled by manager Alex Cora in the dugout, who threw his arm around the outfielder.

Meanwhile, Darwinzon Hernandez issued four walks in the span of five batters.

MJ Melendez knocked in six runs for the Royals.

Tommy Pham knocked in three of the Red Sox' five runs -- two with a tape-measure homer in the seventh and another with a run-scoring single in the ninth.
