Final: Red Sox 8, Royals 5 - Bello allows 1 run in 6 innings, Red Sox score 5 runs in 1st inning
The Red Sox win the first game of their series against the Kansas City Royals 8-5.
Boston extended their win streak behind a great offensive surge to start the game along with a quality outing from Brayan Bello.
In the first inning, the Red Sox scored five runs against Bailey Falter. With the bases loaded, Rob Refsnyder drove in Boston's first two runs.

Frazier's sac fly RBI was the only run allowed from Bello. The righty limited Kansas City to six hits while also getting out of some tough jams. The biggest jam Bello got out of was in the third inning where he got out of a bases loaded situation to keep the Royals scoreless.
Boston added another run in the seventh inning with a Wilyer Abreu home run, but they faced trouble in the next inning.

After a scoreless outing from Steven Matz, Jorge Alcala struggled in a low-leverage situation allowing two home runs and only getting one out. Justin Wilson came in after Alcala, and he allowed two runs giving the Royals a chance to come back into the game.
And with the tying run at the plate, Abreu threw out a runner at home ending the inning and shutting down Kansas City's best offensive inning.
Aroldis Chapman picked up the save in the ninth inning sealing the opening victory for Boston.
Although the end of this game was ugly, Boston played a great game at the plate despite Roman Anthony being scratched minutes before the game. Another strong start from Bello helped Boston look dominant in this game, and he helped extend Boston's win streak to six games.
The Red Sox will play the next game of their series tomorrow at 7:10 p.m.
