Final: Red Sox 6, Rockies 3 - Sox offense overcomes sluggish start after solid outing for Whitlock
The Red Sox exploded for five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the lead en route to a 6-3 win, their first and two games, to take a game from Colorado. Garrett Whitlock went seven strong innings, surrendering two runs on six hits and requiring just 92 pitches. Rob Refsnyder was 2-for-3 with a walk, two RBI and two runs. Alex Verdugo was 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The Red Sox dropped the first two games of the series in extra innings. They'll look to salvage something from the three-game set before a three-game date with the Yankees at Fenway this weekend. It's the first time since 2010 they've lost a series to the Rockies, who've followed a six-game skid with a three-game winning streak.
Tuesday marked the first time Boston had gone to extra innings in three straight games since June 25-28, 2000. It was the first time it happened in three consecutive days since May 10-12, 1996.
The Red Sox are 17-18 at home. They’ve lost seven of nine at Fenway.
Rafael Devers, who has homered in three of five, including two on Tuesday, is not in the lineup tonight. Boston has an off day Thursday.
Garrett Whitlock went 6.1 innings against the Yankees last time out, a 3-2 win. He gave up one run on seven hits. He has never faced the Rockies, but has faced Randal Grichuk(1-for-4), Nolan Jones (0-for-1) and Mike Moustakas (0-for-2).
