Final: Red Sox 13, Reds 6 - Red Sox score 7 runs in 1st inning, Abreu hits grand slam and inside the park home run in win
The Red Sox win game one of their series against the Cincinnati Reds in a high scoring 13-6 game.
Despite not having his best start on the mound, Garrett Crochet was given a large amount of run support, and he finally won his first game at Fenway Park.
In the 1st inning, the Red Sox scored six runs against Reds rookie starter Chase Burns. Boston took advantage of a throwing error by Matt McClain at second base, and Abraham Toro and Carlos Narvaez delivered the first RBI's of the game. In the same inning, Trevor Story delivered a three-run home run giving the Red Sox a comfortable 5-0 early lead.

David Hamilton then scored an RBI of his own, and Burns was out of the game only recording one out. The Red Sox noticed Burns tipping his pitches, and it resulted in Boston making big contact against the righty's slider in his short outing. After Burns left the game, Roman Anthony drove in another RBI putting the game at 7-0 after the 1st inning.

Midway through the game, the Reds cut Boston's lead to three runs. Cincinnati recorded three extra base hits and three runs in the 4th inning, and they tallied another RBI in the 5th.
However, Wilyer Abreu provided Boston another run with an inside the park home run to the deepest par of Fenway Park.

Austin Hays would get a home run in the 6th inning, and Crochet's start on the mound was finished after six innings. Crochet cruised through the first three innings of the game, but after those innings he struggled with his control which resulted massive hits for the Reds.
In the same 6th inning, Jarren Duran hit another home run for the Red Sox putting the game at 9-5.

And in the 8th, the Red Sox put this game out of reach after Abreu cleared the bases with a grand slam into the right field stands.

Boston's bullpen would only give up one run in three innings finishing off the game.
This was another game where the Red Sox had a huge offensive surge that resulted in the victory. Duran noticed that Burns was tipping pitches, and it became a huge difference maker in this game. Boston ended the night with 14 hits, and over half the lineup recorded multiple hits in this game which included rookies Marcelo Mayer and Anthony.
One other bright spot in this win was Jordan Hicks making his Red Sox debut in the 8th inning. Hicks pitched a clean 1-2-3 inning, and his fastball was clocked in at triple digits multiple times.
