Final: Rays 12, Red Sox 4

The Red Sox' attempt at a sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays ended with a thud Sunday as the Sox fell, hard, in a 12-4 loss to the Rays.

Starter Nick Pivetta was belted for five runs on eight hits over five innings, and the bullpen was no better, charged with another seven runs over the final four frames.

The Sox managed three homers -- one each by J.D. Martinez, Tommy Pham and Franchy Cordero -- but each one came with the bases empty.
