Final: Pirates 7, Red Sox 6

When they fail to score nine, apparently, the Red Sox are in trouble.

Held to "just'' seven runs, including five in the first inning, the Sox dropped a 7-6 decision to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Pirates beat up on starter Kutter Crawford for all seven runs in four innings, scoring in every inning that Crawford pitched. Four Red Sox relievers combined for five shutout innings after that, but the offense couldn't erase the deficit.

The Sox hit three homers in the first -- one each from Rafael Devers, Masataka Yoshida and Triston Casas -- but managed just one more run the rest of the way.
