Getting back to the .500 mark for the first time almost two weeks, the Red Sox won their third straight, beating up the Pittsburgh Pirates, 8-2. It was also the Sox' second straight series win.

The Sox fell behind 2-0 in the bottom of the first on two-run homer by Bryan Reynolds, but the Sox surged ahead with three runs in the second and one more in the fifth before exploding for three insurance runs in the ninth.

Alex Verdugo reached base five times (three hits, two walks) and Christian Arroyo had three hits and three RBI.

The win went to Rich Hill, who gave the Sox five strong innings to even his record at 5-5;.
