Final: Red Sox 5, Pirates 2 - Jarren Duran gives Red Sox the win with inside-the-park home run
The Red Sox finish their series against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 5-2 victory to wrap up August.
Despite allowing five walks in his start, Lucas Giolito picked up the win for Boston. He pitched six innings on the mound limiting the Pirates to one run and three hits while also striking out six batters.
The game was scoreless through the first three innings of the game, but Giolito faced trouble in the fourth. With two outs, Giolito walked three consecutive batters to load up the bases. Giolito's control issues continued as he threw a wild pitch past Carlos Narvaez to give the Pirates the first run of the game.
However, Boston responded in the fifth inning scoring four runs off Pirates starter Mitch Keller. After a ground-rule double from Narvaez, Roman Anthony tied the game hitting a hard ground ball to shortstop that brought home Romy Gonzalez from third base.
And with two runners on base, Jarren Duran recorded a three-run, inside-the-park home run to give the Red Sox a 4-1 lead.

Giolito finished his start after the sixth inning, and the Red Sox added another run to their lead with a Ceddanne Rafaela RBI single.
Pittsburgh added another run in the seventh inning against Justin Slaten, but Boston's bullpen shutdown the Pirates the rest of the game. Garrett Whitlock pitched out of a based-loaded jam in the eighth inning, and Aroldis Chapman picked up his 27th save against his former club.

The Red Sox struggled to get a game-changing hit throughout this series, but Duran's home run became exactly what they needed. Boston took more of an advantage with runners on base, and Giolito and the bullpen did a great job limiting damage when they put runners on base.
The Red Sox will play their first game of September tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. against the Cleveland Guardians.
